Sure! In our first session, we’ll meet together to set expectations of therapy, allow you both to tell me what brings you to counseling, and gather background information on the current concerns.
In our next few sessions, we’ll meet together, and I will also meet with both of you individually to gather a comprehensive history, understand your individual perspectives on the things you’re dealing with, and just learn more about you as a person.
Between the first and fourth sessions, both of you will fill out a Gottman Relationship Check Up assessment online. There’s a fee of $29 per couple for the assessment. This tool gives me a very comprehensive view of your relationship from many different angles, saving you time and money.
For our sixth session, we will all come back together to review the results of the assessment and figure out how to work toward the changes that you want to see as a couple. This will set the course for the rest of our time together.
You’ll have homework after each session, often something to read, journal about, do differently, observe…remember, things get better with the work you do outside of sessions. You’re in charge of how long your therapy takes, which is determined in large part by how much effort you put in.
